Rich Scott
USGTF Level III Member
Amsterdam, NY

I completed the Level III full certification program at Holiday Valley Golf Resort last September. Since then, I have started to live my dream as a golf instructor. I have secured a part time position as the Head Professional at Hales Mills Country Club in Johnstown, NY. I was very fortunate to be in the right place at the right time, as HMCC did not have a head professional. My salesmanship took over and right away I presented them with my list of “benefits of having a certified teaching professional” at their club. They called me the next day.

I have also conducted two successful junior programs over the winter at our local Methodist Church and the YMCA. Currently, I am organizing my spring and summer programs to include a Jr. Golf Bootcamp. The Jr. Bootcamp will consist of an early morning walk on the golf course to learn about the finer aspects of etiquette, rules, and basic golf course knowledge. Our walk will conclude at the practice green to begin the hands-on portion of the day.

I have also started an independent golf manufacturers rep business. My lines include: Curv Convex Putters, The Outting Peg and Pod, David S. Reid Sportswear, and Golfer Block Sun and Bug Screen. I am looking forward to making my new-found profession rewarding and successful. Thank you to Bob Wyatt, Jr. and the USGTF for putting me on the green with an uphill three footer.
