Carlos de Barros from Lake Worth, Florida, played a bit steadier than the rest of the field with rounds of 74-77 to take top honors at the USGTF Southeast Regional at GlenLakes Country Club in Weeki Wachee, Florida, July 30-31. Finishing a stroke off the winning score were Mark Harman, Ridgeland, South Carolina, and Rich Lively, Rockledge, Florida. Lively had the best round of the two-day event with a 70 after the first round but was unable to maintain his hot pace, and a double bogey on 17 the second day hurt his chances for the trophy. De Barros pockets $500 and the Southeast Trophy donated by regional director Mike Stevens. De Barros previously won a Southeast Region and Southwest Region championship.
It was a great weekend, and special thanks to host pro Tom McCrary and his staff for their hospitality.
