In addition to a challenging 18-hole course design and a covered, heated driving range, Sand Point boasts a junior Olympic-sized swimming pool and wading pool, four outdoor and lighted tennis courts, a 24/7 Fitness Center with club-approved fitness trainers, a full-service Dining Room and Lounge, and beautiful banquet facilities.
DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:

The Assistant Golf Professional provides leadership and supports the Head Golf Professional in creating an atmosphere of teamwork in the Golf Department. Their duties include but are not limited to training and supervising all Golf Department team members and management for group play and program development. The person in this position supports the Head Golf Professional in the effective management of all Golf areas including the range, outside services, tournaments and player programs, course marshaling, and all Pro Shop operations.

The Assistant Golf Professional supports the Head Golf Professional in ensuring the desired level of member satisfaction is met or exceeded consistently.

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

General Duties

Ensure excellent golf services for all members and/or guests in the Pro Shop, Bag Storage Room, and Practice Areas.
Guarantee proper registration for all members and/or guests using the golf course, including the collection of Green Fees, which shall be remitted to the Club, and tracking guest play by guest name and sponsoring member.
Monitor golf play, including controlling starting times and marshalling speed of play.
Maintain Pro Shop operating hours as specified by the Board with qualified personnel.
Enforce all Club rules and/or By-Laws governing course usage as directed by the Board.
Record all errant golf ball incidents and strive to determine the responsible party within a reasonable time frame.
Support the Head Golf Professional in the administration of the handicap program.
Support the Head Golf Professional in operating a clean and organized Pro Shop facility.
Maintain daily upkeep of equipment for use at the Practice Areas.
Offer golf instruction to all membership.
Enthusiastically promote the game of golf via educational programs, tournaments, clinics, etc. that encourages fellowship and pride in the operation and facility.
Represent the Club as needed in area professional golf activities, including but not limited to the local section of the PGA, Pro AMs, and WWGCSA sponsored events.
Devote a reasonable number of hours to playing golf with various members regardless of their skill level.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Golf Professional.
Personnel Duties

Work with the Head Golf Professional to hire, train and supervise all Pro Shop Staff (3 Assistant Professionals, Outside Services and Pro Shop Personnel) and ensure all human resources needs are up to date.
Manage personnel according to industry standards while maintaining adherence to all applicable local, state and federal laws.
Establish and maintain Pro Shop training program and Code of Conduct.
Tournament Duties

Facilitate various Women’s Division competitions.
Provide professional scorekeeping services and maintain accurate credit book accounts to ensure member satisfaction.
Enforce standards for outside events.
Junior Golf Duties

Ensure that all Juniors are knowledgeable and respectful of all golf rules and courtesies.
Department Interface Duties

Review end of day report daily and adjust Golf Department needs accordingly.
Communicate regularly with departments within the Club including, but not limited to Greens, Clubhouse, Marketing and Communications, Food and Beverage, Human Resources and Accounting to ensure all other departmental needs are met and the Club is working together as a team.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education, Experience, and Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; preferred with a concentration in sports and recreation.
5 years as Assistant Golf Professional experience.
Currently enrolled in the PGA and working towards a Class A Membership preferred.
General knowledge of MS office programs; specifically, Word, Excel, Outlook and Publisher.
Proficient with WHS Handicap system.
Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations.
Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
Service and member focused attitude.

Encourage elevated standards for all facilities, services, and communications while assessing and evaluating the needs of the entire Club Team to meet expectations or satisfaction and exceeding where possible.
Assure that federal, state, and local laws in addition to Club policies and procedures are up to date and in compliance with the necessary and respective agencies.
