Summary
Salary range for this position is $38,521.60 to $45,084 year, DOE. This is an non-exempt position.

The Assistant Golf Pro assists with pro shop operations, tournament schedule and completion, customer service, scheduling tee times, promoting and marketing, merchandising, and providing lessons and camps for the public.

Essential Duties & Required Qualifications

Work as an attendant in the Pro Shop, maintain clean, well organized Pro Shop, wait on customers.
Assist in daily operations in the Pro Shop, including the sale of merchandise, collection of green fees, cart rentals, ball rentals.
Operate computerized cash collection system, close out cash drawer on daily basis, balance cash, record deposits.
Assist golf cart attendants as needed, check golf carts daily as to acceptable operation and cleanliness; clean carts when necessary.
Assist with tournament organization and administration.
Schedule tee times and assists with the flow of course activities.
Perform marshaling duties when needed.
Operate tractor to mechanically retrieve golf balls on driving range, as needed.
Maintain neatness and cleanliness of Pro Shop and surrounding areas, including taking out trash, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, unpacking and arranging inventory.
Open and close club house according to policy and procedure.
Provide individual instruction, lessons, camps, and instruct junior golf program and promote golf among the community.

Qualifications

Required Education and/or Experience:
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one year to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must be enrolled in Professional Golf Association program in good standing and be at Apprentice 1 level.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The assistant golf professional must be a talented player with good communication and leadership skills. They must have the ability to communicate and teach the game of golf to a variety of students and expertise in club fitting. This position requires experience in Golf Course Clubhouse Management, retail operations, construction, maintenance, and agronomy of golf course tees, fairways and greens. They must be patient, organized, and motivated. Golf professionals need to be professional and courteous, have strong financial skills to maintain a budget, and good people skills to manage employees. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with public officials, superiors, subordinates and the public; ability to type accurately. Proficient in using Microsoft applications (including Word, Excel), other software packages as needed for data management and email applications.
