Who are we?

The Head Golf Professional reports to the Director of Golf. Responsible for the daily operations and for administering and enforcing the policies and procedures of the Golf Club by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
What you will have an opportunity to do:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Ensures the golfers and guests are exceptionally serviced in all their needs including but not limited to merchandise, assistance with golf bags, carts, retail equipment, practice balls and cleaning of clubs.
Oversees, sales, inventory control, golf instruction and scheduling of employees.
Responsible for the interview and selection process for the Golf, OGS, and Cart Maintenance Department.
Schedules, trains, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines employees in all Golf Operations, Outside Golf Services, and Cart Maintenance Departments.
Plans and coordinates tournaments, clinics and other events, working closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, Golf Professional Staff (Instructors), and Merchandise Manager. Informs all departments of scheduled events and special needs.
Administers and maintains the group booking program, coordinating reservations and scheduling.
Orchestrates group golf events/tournaments brought to this resort.
Monitors pace of play and golf course activity; ensures maximization and proper utilization of the tee sheet.
Teaches individual and group lessons.
Inspects club buildings, equipment, and golf course on an on-going basis, ensuring that all meet the standards of Turtle Bay Golf.
Investigates and resolves complaints from patrons.
Provides guidance to apprentices in their pursuit of professional status in the PGA of America and the Aloha Section PGA.
Directs Teaching Assistants so as to promote consistency in instruction during clinics and lessons.
Assists in developing, implementing, and enforcing operational policies, promotional and marketing strategies.
Assists with preparing annual budget for Golf Department, including rounds, revenues and expenses.
Attends and conducts meetings, participates in or coordinates employee events.
Prepares and distributes daily, monthly and yearly reports as needed or requested.
Represents Turtle Bay Golf at professional golf events throughout the state and country.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or minimum of 3 or more years’ experience in all aspects of a quality resort golf course operations; minimum of three years of supervisory responsibility; working knowledge of USGA Rules of Golf; ability to play and teach golf well; basic knowledge of computers including Windows programs, point-of-sale and tee time software.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and public.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be a member or apprentice in good standing of the PGA of America.
