Full Job Description
Situated on the beautiful South Shore of Long Island, Lawrence Yacht and Country Club is home to 18 holes of some of the best golf in Nassau County, NY. The Club, opened in 1924, underwent a full redesign in the late 1960s that utilized additional acreage to lengthen the course to its present 6,500 yards.

This is a key operations management role with the Club, reporting to the General Manager.

Job Summary

Manage all golf and golf-related activities and business.
Job Tasks (Duties)

Plans, promotes, and directs all golf activities
Prepares annual and monthly budgets for golf operations, including revenue generation, cogs, payroll and expenses; takes corrective actions as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained
Orders merchandise for golf shop and provides the best selection possible within the constraints of inventory and quality limits as set by the GM and/or KemperSports
Orders supplies associated with golf activities with budget
Maintains attractive, orderly appearance in the golf shop
Hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates golf cart maintenance personnel and golf shop, locker room, golf range, golf bag and club storage employees, and on-course personnel
Provides golf lessons to members and guests within a planned schedule approved by the GM
Plays golf with members of all skill levels on the occasional basis to generate enthusiasm (as approved by GM)
Designs and conducts adult and junior golf clinics and programs
Plans professional development and training activities for team members
Operates the golf shop and properly collects charges and fees for all golf-related activities
Organizes and conducts club tournaments, outings, and related events
Interprets and enforces golf rules, club policies and all regulations
Consults with the General Manager and Superintendent about golf course and practice range operations, maintenance, and rules; cooperates with the Superintendent about maintenance plans and schedules and properly communicates with the membership
Implements and administers tee sheet management and USGA handicap system
Represents the club in area professional events including local, state, or national events with approval of the GM
Attends all staff, management, golf committee, and other applicable meetings
Maintains records relating to player and guests rounds and other statistics
Provides proper staffing for all golf operations, including open play and tournaments
Plans social evenings and events to promote golf and fellowship among members and guests
Adheres to all federal, state, and local laws regarding health, safety, and employment
Schedules and verifies all staff hours to assure that members are fully served and labor budgets are achieved
Assists in the development of short-and-long-range plans for improvements to the club facilities and courses
Attends national and sectional conferences/meetings, merchandise shows, educational and professional shows to encourage development and to enhance the quality and image of the club as approved by GM
Assists in supervising and inspecting design improvement and capital outlays of golf courses and golf facilities
