A strong field which featured several past region and United States Golf Teachers Cup champions highlighted the USGTF Central Region Championship, which was held August 7-8 at Lake Forest Golf Club in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Charlie Henry, a mainstay in Michigan USGTF golf, fired two rounds of 73-73 – 146 to defeat a stellar field, which included 2013 US Cup champion Grant Gulych, multiple-region champion James Peters, and Team USA representative Brent Davies, among others.
Day two started with Henry and Gulych birdieing the first hole, and the front nine ended with Henry holding a one-shot lead over Davies and Gulych. As the battle continued throughout the back nine, Davies double-bogeyed the 16th to fall out of contention, while Henry and Gulych stood tied on the 18th tee, with Henry making a great par save on the 36th hole to win by one shot over Gulych and four clear of Davies, taking home the $325 1st place prize money. On the net side, Davies and Vito Cisternino tied for first at 138.
