Jim Peters from Newport, Kentucky, played steady golf for two days and edged out defending champion Mark Harman by a single shot to take the USGTF Southeast Region crown and the $600 first place prize with scores of 75-72 – 147. Harman staged a brilliant rally, but his four-under-par effort of 68 in round two came up short. Third place went to Carlos de Barros at 152, followed by Rich Lively in fourth at 154. David Thompson edged region director Mike Stevens for fifth-place money in a scorecard playoff, with both players shooting 158. Peters also won the 2014 USGTF Central Region championship, making him the second person in USGTF history to win two different region titles, after Carlos de Barros.
The tournament was held for the second consecutive year at the GlenLakes Country Club, a private facility in Weeki Wachee, Florida. The Southeast Region would like to extend special thanks to head professional Tom McCrary for making the course available to USGTF members. The course was in fantastic shape despite torrential rains in the area leading up to the championship.
