She started her professional career with a “can’t-miss” label and with big hopes of being the next superstar in women’s golf, and Paula Creamer has done little to dispel the hoopla. She recently won for the first time in nearly four years, perhaps portending the year 2014 to be the best yet for one of America’s top players.
Creamer completely dominated the junior golf scene, winning 11 tournaments on the American Junior Golfers Association’s circuit and being named the AJGA’s player of the year in 2003. She turned professional to being the 2005 season, foregoing college, and won twice in her rookie year. However, various injuries and ailments have conspired to derail her career somewhat, but she has persevered with 10 victories, the last coming on March 2 at HSBC Women’s Championship in Singapore.
Creamer has one major championship, the 2010 US Women’s Open. She currently lives in Windermere, Florida, and is engaged to Derek Heath, a military pilot who is on active reserve status.
