Although a bit hot, you could not ask for better weather for this year’s version of the USGTF Southeast Region Championship. The Wildwood Country Club course in Crawfordville, Florida, was in excellent shape. A bit of a surprise occurred as Carlos DeBarros tied Mark Harman for the top spot and the first time we have had co-champions in the region. Both fired a two-round total of 150. The firm greens this year made getting the ball close on approaches a significant challenge.
On Saturday night Mike Stevens conducted the SE Regional meeting with tournament attendees. It was agreed that the championship should continue at Wildwood as it is a fairly central location and an excellent value. Plans for a spring tournament will also be explored with a possible location in Georgia. Details will be forthcoming through the monthly e-newsletter and USGTF members forum. For those wishing to become more active in the Southeast Region, please contact region director Mike Stevens at amstevens@ij.net.
